UBE Establishes KPIs and Targets for Nature Positivity
2026/03/30 News Release~Turning the Environmental Commitments of the Medium-Term Plan into Concrete Actions~
UBE Corporation (President: Yuki Nishida; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter, "UBE") has established key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets for nature positivity, in line with the UBE Group's Medium-Term Management Plan announced on May 20, 2025. These efforts support one of the Group's material issues: addressing global environmental issues.
The UBE Group addresses environmental issues from three key perspectives -- carbon neutrality, a circular economy, and nature positivity -- and positions these areas as key priorities. In addition to reducing environmental impact through its business activities, the Group works to reduce its impact on natural capital and contribute to its conservation.
Referring to the recommendations of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), UBE has been working to identify priority areas closely linked to the Group's business activities and to understand the impacts of these activities on the natural environment, as well as their dependencies on it.*1 The company has established KPIs and targets for the Group based on these efforts, focusing on emissions of chemical substances and waste associated with its business activities across the Group. These KPIs and targets aim to support the quantitative assessment and management of impacts on the natural environment.
Key KPIs and Targets for Nature Positivity
- Reduction of chemical emissions
Reduction rate of emissions of 20 priority chemical substances: 70% by FY2030, compared to FY2010 levels - Reduction of waste emissions
Reduction rate of industrial waste sent to external landfill: 95% by FY2030, compared to FY2000 levels
By establishing these KPIs and targets, the UBE Group is working to further enhance the visualization and management of its impacts on the natural environment. By steadily advancing its initiatives to address environmental issues, the Group aims to fulfill its 2030 vision, becoming "A specialty chemicals company that contributes to the global environment, human health, and an enriched future society."
